Mission
The Broadwater Community Foundation (BCF) is a community endowment fund which will help ensure that the quality of life in Broadwater County is maintained for future generations. The Broadwater Foundation will allow us to control our own destiny. By developing our resources from the grassroots level, we will control our own future.
History
The idea of the Broadwater Community Foundation grew out of a 1993 visioning meeting sponsored by the Broadwater County Development Corporation. The Foundation was officially formed in 1995. The following year, we raised $4,000, which was matched by the Montana Community Foundation, and in 1997 we made our first donations back to the community in the form of scholarships. After less than 10 years, donations to the Foundation have exceeded $215,000, and nearly $30,000 has been given back to the community
In 2006, the Montana Community Foundation issued a challenge to local community foundation affiliates, offering a grant of $2,500 to any LCF that added $10,000 to its endowment. BCF met the goal and received $2,500.

GOOD WORKS
Major grants in 2006 went to the Townsend Front Street Project, landscaping at the new Broadwater Detention Center, tree planting and soccer goals. For a complete list of projects that have been funded in all or part by BCF, contact the Foundation office and request a copy of the current newsletter.

HOW TO GIVE
The Broadwater Community Foundation conducts two major fundraisers each year. In April, their annual Wine & Cheese Fun-Raiser features artists, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres by the Broadwater Cattlewomen and delicious wines and cheeses. It has already outgrown its original location.
In December, the Foundation sets up a Christmas tree in the window of a Main Street business. Donations to the Foundation in memory of loved ones purchase laminated memorial ornaments that state the name of the loved one. Memorial donations for BCF’s annual “Light of Love” are accepted year-round.
In addition to these fundraisers, donations are always welcome and can be sent to: Broadwater Community Foundation, c/o Brian Patrick, 201 N. Spruce, Townsend, MT 59644.

HOW TO RECEIVE
Applications for educational and community improvement projects are available from the Broadwater Community Foundation. Submit a one-page, typed application which covers the purpose of the grant. Include the phone number and name of a contact person and advise us of the funding needed. Grant applications are accepted year-round. The BCF board of directors disperses grant money in December and June of each year. For a complete list of projects that have been funded in all or part by BCF, contact the Foundation office and request a copy of the current newsletter. Grant proposals can be sent to: Broadwater Community Foundation, c/o Brian Patrick, 201 N. Spruce, Townsend, MT 59644.
