Social Justice Montana
Request for Proposals
Social Justice Montana invites you to submit a request for funding support. The Fund’s mission is to promote tolerance and combat bigotry and discrimination.
We seek projects that do more than “celebrate diversity.” Rather, projects should address head-on negative attitudes toward others who are different, however “different” is identified. Our message is that it is not OK to think of or act toward others negatively just because they do not share one’s country of birth, sexual orientation, gender, race, abilities, religion or other background.
We hope to receive proposals that:
- encourage interaction between young people of different backgrounds, such as ethnicities, sexual orientation, socio-economic levels, religions and race;
- help young people explore their own and other’s attitudes and prejudices;
- train teachers and other adults how to address intolerance, bigotry and/or bullying among youth; or
- promote tolerance and discourage bigotry in a way not mentioned above.
Grants range between $2,000 and $5,000.
The deadline for proposals is March 15, 2009. Please follow the application requirements [link] rigorously. We will not consider incomplete or poorly written proposals. Following proposal review, organizations may be selected to receive site visits by Social Justice Montana advisory members and staff.
Winning applicants will be required to submit brief six-month and end-of-year reports.
