Mission
A philanthropic foundation committed to building an endowment to benefit the Whitehall community

History
The Jefferson Valley Community Foundation was established in 2001 to create an enduring legacy for the Whitehall area. The original advisory committee consisted of Ed Rollins, Erv Hedegaard, Glenn Marx, Karen Mattern, Chuck Larsen and Scott Mendenhall. JVCF serves Whitehall and the surrounding area.

Board

Erv Hedegaard is a Montana native and has lived in Whitehall since 1971. Erv and his wife Judi were blessed with three children. He retired from Montana Power Co. as a department manager and is a charter member of the JVCF board. Erv is also an active member and past president of the Whitehall Rotary Club.

Terri Marx grew up in Minnesota and lived in Virginia and Maryland before moving to Montana in 1987. In 1997 Terri and her husband Glenn moved to Whitehall with their two children after purchasing the Whitehall Ledger, which they ran until 2006. Terri is currently office manager at Mountain View Real Estate, a member of the Whitehall Community Development Board and is spearheading an effort to create a walking trail in Whitehall. She has served as the JVCF fund advisor since December 2006 and has been on the board since 2002.

Camilla "Millie" Baycroft, a native Montanan, moved to Whitehall from Spokane, WA, with her late husband Bill in 1994. She was licensed as a real estate agent in 1995, a broker in 1998, began a property management company in 2000, and purchased Mountain View Real Estate brokerage in 2004. Millie is a member of the Whitehall Rotary Club and is currently acting as president. She's active in her church, enjoys traveling – especially to visit her three children and seven grandchildren, reads for relaxation, and considers community service a privilege.

Roy McBride is branch president of Rocky Mountain Bank in Whitehall after moving from Shelby, Montana. He has been a JVCF board member for two years and is also president of the Whitehall Booster Club, a member of the Community Transition Advisory Committee and the Whitehall Community Development Board.

Greg Corr has been a Jefferson Valley Community Foundation board member for two years. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1982 and has been working for small community newspapers since then. From 1999 to 2004 he owned the Cascade Courier in Cascade, Montana. He has been owner of the Whitehall Ledger since April 2006.

Wendy Knox is a professional oil and gas landman and has been a local property owner since 1980. Wendy and her husband Terry Wisner have two sons who graduated from Whitehall High School. She has been on the JVCF board for one year.

Roger Steerman is the newest JVCF board member, having joined the JVCF in April 2008. He and his wife Lorie have two children in Whitehall Schools. Roger retired from the Forest Service in 2006. He is also active in the Whitehall Youth Soccer Association.

GOOD WORKS

The JVCF endowment has grown from $5000 in 2001 to $114,000 at the end of 2007, so the amount of grants dispersed has steadily been improving. In 2007 the JVCF granted out $7500.

The JVCF was proud to give $4400 (in three different grants) to Pool Pals and the Whitehall Community Pool that opened in summer 2007 and helped give our community a wonderful asset.

The JVCF has also given grants to Selina Memorial Animal Rescue several times to fund much needed spay/neuter clinics in the Whitehall area.
