WESTERN MONTANA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
LEARN ABOUT US
Mission
The Western Montana Community Foundation seeks to improve community vitality in the counties of Western Montana, especially Missoula, Ravalli, Granite and Mineral counties. Grants are made to charitable organizations in those areas from funds raised for this purpose and from interest on endowment funds.
History
The Western Montana Community Foundation was originally a regional committee of the Montana Community Foundation. As the Five Valleys Regional Committee, WMCF made grants to charitable organizations in the region. Due to the rural character of some of the counties in our area, the Five Valleys Regional Committee offered some services and programs beyond grantmaking to assist nonprofits in these counties. In seeking a nonprofit tax exemption, the Five Valleys Regional Committee became the Western Montana Community Foundation, and we received our exemption in 2008.
